There were gunshots at a meeting between NDC Presidential hopeful Sylvester Mensah and party delegates at Suame in the Ashanti region Monday.

The incident, according to sources, was triggered by some confusion that surrounded  the busing of delegates to the venue Mr. Mensah was set to meet them.

Other sources also claim the gunman, who has not been arrested, belongs to other candidates in the presidential primaries and intended to create fear among the delegates.

The Suame deputy constituency  organiser Saani Mohammed who confirmed the incident to Starr News accused the constituency secretary Brogya Gyamfi of masterminding the violence.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gyamfi has in an interview with Starr News denied knowledge of the attack.

Delegates of the opposition party will go to the polls on February 26 to elect a candidate to lead them in the 2020 elections against the governing New Patriotic Party, who are yet to choose a candidate.

Mr. Mensah, who is former head of the National Health Insurance Authority under the erstwhile NDC administration, is among five other people challenging former President John Mahama for the slot.
