Police probe Ablekuma North rerun violence

The Accra Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into the isolated incidents of violence that occurred during the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run on Friday, 11th July 2025.

A statement issued by the Head of Public Affairs, Supt. Juliana Obeng, confirmed that the disturbance led to temporary disruptions at some polling stations.

The statement noted that the incidents involved cases of assault and disorder, which briefly affected the otherwise peaceful conduct of the polls.

The police have therefore appealed to the public to assist with investigations by providing any relevant information.

“Individuals with knowledge of the incidents or the persons involved are encouraged to contact the Police via emergency numbers 18555 or 191,” the statement added.
