Military VW Golf Engulfed in Flames Behind Police HQ in Accra, Fire Service Response Questioned

A Volkswagen Golf 4, reportedly owned by Ghana Armed Forces personnel, was completely destroyed by fire today, Monday, June 23, 2025, behind the headquarters of the Ghana Police Service in Accra.
A video from the scene, circulated by Metro TV, captured the vehicle ablaze, while frustrated onlookers voiced strong complaints about the delayed arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service. Bystanders could be heard lambasting the fire service for their slow response, particularly given that their head office was just a short distance from the incident.
Further compounding the public’s frustration, when fire officers eventually arrived, they remained in their vehicle for several minutes, drawing more criticism from the growing crowd. “Look, they are still in the car,” one person was heard saying, while another speculated, “maybe there is no water.”
Eventually, the officers began to actively combat the blaze, spraying water into the engulfed vehicle. As they worked to bring the fire under control, several blasts were heard from the car, which was by then fully consumed by the flames.
By the time the fire was eventually extinguished, the Volkswagen Golf 4 had been reduced to a completely burnt-out wreck. Investigations into the cause of the fire and the response time are anticipated.
