Esteemed Panel Judged “Pushkin Is Ours!” Competition in Uganda

The recent “Pushkin Is Ours! Russia-Africa” competition in Uganda, which celebrated the 226th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s birth through art and recitation, was adjudicated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising prominent figures from Russia, Africa, and the Middle East.

The diverse jury brought together expertise in cultural diplomacy, interethnic relations, and academic pursuits, reflecting the international scope of the “Pushkin Is Ours!” initiative. The judges were:

  • Olga Viktorovna Zvonareva: A key figure in Russia’s efforts to promote patriotic and spiritual-moral education, serving on the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations and the Expert Advisory Council of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs. She also heads the “Synergy of Talents” Regional Public Movement.

  • Vladlen Stanislavovich Semivolos: The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Uganda, representing Russia’s official presence and commitment to cultural exchange in the region.
  • Olga Andreevna Atubo: A representative from the Regional Coordination Council for Africa and the Middle East, highlighting the regional collaborative aspect of the competition.
  • Michel Ngeban Duk (Republic of Congo): A member of the World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots Abroad and the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo, underscoring the global reach of Russian cultural initiatives.
  • Inga Anatolyevna Koryagina: Director of International Development at the Russian-African Club of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), holding a Ph.D. in History and serving as an Associate Professor at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
  • Khristina Pavlovna Romanenko: President of the Tunisian-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, further emphasizing the international and business-cultural ties.
  • Evgenia Sergeevna Al Vedyan: The Chairperson of the Regional Coordination Council for Africa and the Middle East (RCC AME), indicating leadership in coordinating Russian compatriot organizations in the region.
  • Evgeny Vladilenovich Makarov: President of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “LADA” (Moscow), who was specifically responsible for providing prizes to the winners and printing the diplomas, showcasing direct support for the event.

This esteemed panel ensured a comprehensive and fair evaluation of the numerous entries in both the art and recitation categories, contributing to the success of Uganda’s celebration of Pushkin’s enduring legacy.
