Fatal Collision on Bunso-Koforidua Highway: Motor Rider Dies, Passengers Injured, and Thefts Reported

A tragic road accident occurred on Friday, June 14, 2025, at approximately 9:00 AM, on the Bunso-Koforidua highway near Osiem, close to the Saviour Mortuary. The collision claimed the life of a motor rider, identified only as Isaiah, believed to be in his 30s.

According to initial reports, the fatal incident transpired when Isaiah, the deceased, allegedly attempted an improper overtaking maneuver. This led to a direct collision with a Hyundai vehicle, bearing registration number GR 5856-22. The Hyundai, which was transporting 12 individuals en route to a funeral in Koforidua-Asokore, sustained significant damage.

Isaiah unfortunately died at the scene of the accident. His body has since been transported and deposited at the Saviour Memorial Hospital Morgue in Osiem for preservation and further processes.

The 12 passengers who were traveling in the Hyundai vehicle sustained minor injuries as a result of the impact. They are currently receiving medical attention and treatment at the Saviour Hospital.

In a deeply concerning turn of events following the accident, eyewitnesses have reported a deplorable act of theft. According to these accounts, some individuals who arrived at the scene, ostensibly to offer assistance, allegedly took advantage of the chaotic situation. They are accused of stealing mobile phones and cash belonging to both the deceased motor rider and other victims involved in the collision. This shameful act has drawn widespread and strong public condemnation, adding an unfortunate layer of distress to an already tragic event.

The Akyem Tafo Police Command has swiftly launched investigations into two distinct aspects of the incident: both the direct cause of the accident itself and the disturbing reports of theft that occurred in its aftermath. Authorities are urging members of the public who may have witnessed the accident or have any information related to the reported thefts to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. Public cooperation is crucial in bringing clarity to the circumstances surrounding the collision and holding those responsible for the thefts accountable.
