I’m not a liar; I’ve never been a liar in my life – Mustapha Hamid ‘weeps’ over ‘liar’ tag

Minister of Inner-city and Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has rebuffed claims he lied through his teeth about the desilted Pelele drain at Aboabo in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region, MyNewsGh.com reports.

It would be recalled that the Minister while answering questions during the President’s meeting with the media said as part of efforts to improve the drainage system to avoid perennial flooding in the area, the river had been dredged.

Dr Mustapha Hamid came under attack by some persons who accused him of peddling falsehood as far the particular drain was concern branding him with all kinds of names including claims he was a liar.

But setting the records straight at the media launch of the 2019 Conference of Zongo for Peace and Development held in Kumasi on Wednesday, 2nd January 2019, he stated that his comment during President Media encounter that the Pelele drain had been dredged by the Ministry was nothing but the truth.

According to the Minister, the drain was dredged by the Ministry of Inner-city and Zongo Development by his predecessor Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique.

He admitted more filth has engulfed the drain in recent times, he hinted of plans by the ministry to embark on a second dredging in order to avoid the place from being flooded.

“I didn’t lie as people are saying. What I said was the truth. The Pelele River was dredged by my predecessor Abubakar Boniface. My predecessor desilted the Pelele drain between April and June 2018. I still stand by my words” the Minister challenged.
