Sabon Lugbe Land Dispute: Andrew Lucky Elerewe Accused of Land Grabbing in Abuja

Andrew Lucky Elerewe, Managing Director of Aiben Properties Ltd (also known as Aiben Kapital Properties), along with his accomplice Mr. Tunde Ajunwo, has been implicated in a serious land grabbing and property destruction incident in Sabon Lugbe, FCT,Abuja.
Despite a subsisting court judgment and a valid warrant of possession issued by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Elerewe and Ajunwo, accompanied by police officers, forcefully entered and demolished properties on the disputed land, Located at Plot 1994, Sabon Lugbe East, Abuja
Court Case: Suit No: FCT/HC/CV/02/2022 at the FCT High Court
Judgment: The court ruled in favour of the bona fide owner, Onos International Ltd, granting exclusive possession of the property.
Warrant of Possession: Issued and enforced by the Deputy Sheriff of the FCT High Court through the Enforcement Unit, confirming the rightful ownership and peaceful possession by Onos International Ltd.
On April 15, 2025, May 19, 2025, May 23, 2025, and other occasions, Elerewe and Ajunwo, with police escort (including the IGP Police Monitoring Unit), unlawfully entered the property, threatened workers, demolished buildings worth millions of Naira, and forcibly evicted the legitimate owners.
The Nigerian Police, particularly the IGP Monitoring Unit, allegedly colluded with Elerewe and Ajunwo, ignoring the court’s orders and facilitating the illegal actions.
Illegal Arrests: Workers of Onos International Ltd were unlawfully arrested and detained by Elerewe’s men with police support, despite the court’s enforcement of possession rights.
Contempt of court proceedings have commenced against Andrew Lucky Elerewe, Tunde Ajunwo, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for disobedience and contempt of court orders. A Form 48 has been issued for contempt and disobedience of the court judgment.
This case highlights a blatant disregard for judicial authority and the rule of law, with a powerful land developer allegedly abusing police power to carry out illegal land grabbing activities. The ongoing court proceedings aim to hold the offenders accountable and restore the rightful ownership and possession of the property to Onos International Ltd.
The outcome of the contempt of court proceedings against Andrew Lucky Elerewe, Tunde Ajunwo, and the police officials involved.
Possible sanctions or penalties imposed by the FCT High Court to enforce respect for its judgments.
