Hon. Isaac Adongo, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, has taken a swipe at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he mockingly referred to as “Alhaji,” in reference to his symbolic gold ornament.
Drawing a contrast between the previous NPP administration and the current one under the NDC, Hon. Adongo remarked:
“Alhaji turned a hunting dog into a pet. He had it lounging on a sofa. But the NDC has turned that pet back into a hunting dog — and now, it’s bringing meat home.”
In a striking analogy, he continued:
*”Once upon a time, a hungry man begged a farmer to let him climb a mango tree to harvest some fruits. He was allowed up, but after spending eight long years in the tree, he came down without picking a single mango.
The farmer, frustrated, told him to get down. But once on the ground, the man began throwing stones and using weapons to try and knock mangoes off the tree. The farmer, puzzled, asked: ‘What kind of hungry man are you — spending years in the tree without harvesting anything, only to try forcefully after coming down?’”*
Hon. Adongo concluded his address with a sharp critique:
“This is the paradox of Dr. Bawumia — a man who was defeated by the dollar while in office, yet now claims from the sidelines to be appreciating the cedi.”
