Kotoko handed tough CAF Confed Cup play-off draw against Cameroon’s Coton Sport

Asante Kotoko will play Cameroonian giants Coton Sport FC de Garoua in the play-offs stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Ghanaian side will face the Cameroonian Champions at this stage of the competition after Coton Sports dropped from the CAF Champions League.

Kotoko reached this stage after beating Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 on aggregate and will now look to cross the next hurdle before the group stages of the competition.

Coton Sports were booted from the Champions League after losing to Egyptian side Al Ismaily 4-3 on aggregate in the final round of qualifiers.

The Porcupine Warriors will travel to Cameroon for the first leg on the weekend of 11th to 13th January before hosting Coton Sports in the second leg in Kumasi a week later.

Asante Kotoko last reach the group stages of the competition in 2008 and was the finalist in the inaugural year in 2004.

Meanwhile, the complete fixtures were announced this evening at the headquarters of CAF in Cairo.

The winners in the play-offs will progress to the group stages of the competition.

Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca are holders of the title.
