Exploring the World Odyssey cruise ship, a floating university on Ghana’s waters

With its stunning aesthetics, impressive amenities and status as a floating university, the cruise ship ensures that both seafarers and students can experience comfort and convenience while at sea.

The arrival of the MV World Odyssey in Ghana symbolizes a remarkable opportunity for the country’s maritime and tourism industries.

The cruise ship allows students to participate in local maritime activities and cultural exchanges.

Currently carrying several students from around the globe, the Bahamas-flagged, 175-meter-long vessel functions as a campus for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The ship arrived in Ghana on Monday, March 17, 2025, and will berth at Tema Port for three days before continuing to Takoradi Port for another three days.

This means the total stay of the cruise ship in Ghana will be six days before it sets sail for its next destination.
Ernestina Serwaa Asante joined the Minister of Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, the Minister of Tourism, Dzifa Gomashie, the Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Dr. Kamal-Deen Ali, and other stakeholders to tour the cruise ship.
