Here’s why UN will not attend to Akpabio report by Natasha’s – VDM details

Natasha tabled her case before the IPU on Tuesday, saying she got suspended by the Senate for filing a sexual harassment petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

This was despite the Senate saying it suspended the Kogi Central lawmaker for flouting the new seating arrangement in the chambers.

According to Natasha, she is seeking justice from the IPU and other democratic institutions because she was illegally suspended.

Reacting, VeryDarkMan said the IPU “cannot do anything. I don’t know if you are thinking that if you go there, they will summon Akpabio and reinstate you in the Senate. They have no power to do that.”

He also stated that the IPU cannot even place a travel ban on Akpabio over her allegation because they lack the power to touch the Senate president.

“The only way they can talk about a country is when that country is a threat to international peace,” he said.

Citing an example, VeryDarkMan revealed that despite the atrocities committed by Boko Haram in Nigeria, the UN could not do anything about it because the terrorist organization was no threat to international peace.

“Boko Haram was only a threat to the peace in Nigeria, so it was not their problem, which explains why they did;t get involved,” he said.

“Even if they pick interest in this case and they summon Akpabio, he will still not go and nothing will happen because their power cannot override the power of the Nigerian Senate,” VeryDarkMan said.
