Businessman Alhaji Banda confirmed dead

The news of his passing was announced by Dele Momodu, a Nigerian publisher believed to have close ties to the family of the late Alhaji Banda.

He expressed his condolences, adding that he had reached out to the widow of the deceased business tycoon to offer his sympathies.

“Ghana’s iconic businessman ALHAJI ASOMA BANDA has passed on… My sincere condolences to his entire family and the good people of Ghana… I have just spoken to his widow MRS EDWINA BAABA BANDA and commiserated with the family. ALHAJI was a father figure to me… On this first day of March and the Ramadan, may Allah forgive his sins and grant him Aljanah Firdaus,” he posted in a Facebook post on Saturday March 1, 2025.

Details surrounding his death have yet to be made known, although he had been reported to have been battling an illness some years ago.

The late Alhaji Banda was a renowned entrepreneur, business magnate, and philanthropist, born in June 1933. He was the Chairman of Antrak Air, a fully Ghanaian-owned company in the aviation industry.
