Military brutality claims life of 36-year-old man at West Mamprusi

The tragic event occurred on Friday, February 14, 2025, after unknown individuals set a car ablaze on the Tamale-Bolgatanga Highway between Loagri and Kukua.

According to Hafiz’s family, he was attacked while fetching water with a tricycle (Motorking), suffering severe head injuries and multiple bruises.

Despite receiving medical attention, Hafiz succumbed to his injuries.

According to GhanaWeb’s correspondent in the region, Dokurugu Alhassan, residents of West Mamprusi are now calling upon the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Defence to intervene and put an end to the military’s unwarranted brutalities against civilians.

This incident follows another disturbing event on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, where two journalists, GhanaWeb’s Dokurugu Alhassan, and Tahiru Ibrahim, were mercilessly beaten by military personnel despite presenting their identification cards.

Imoro Hafiz’s body has been deposited at the Walewale Government Hospital morgue for a postmortem examination to determine the actual cause of his death before burial can take place.

Meanwhile, the other victims are still seeking medical attention, with some requiring referral due to the severity of their injuries.

The residents of West Mamprusi demand justice and an immediate end to the military’s brutal actions.
