He stated that some legendary players like Abedi Ayew Pele, Tony Yeboah, and others should be utilized by the GFA in the management of football.
The former Inter Milan midfielder asserted that the experience and expertise these individuals have gained in their footballing careers would be useful to Ghana sports.
Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, Muntari clarified that the roles for the legends should not be coaching but rather various administrative roles.
“Let’s ask ourselves, where is Abedi Pele? Why isn’t Abedi coming around? Why isn’t Tony Yeboah coming around? Not to mention us, we didn’t do anything. These guys are triple legends.
“When Abedi Pele is in the system, you put him in the right place. I’m not talking about coaching,” he said when asked about his assessment of how the GFA work with ex-players.
Abedi Pele is regarded as one of Ghana’s finest footballers, scoring about 33 goals for the Black Stars. He was part of the team that won the 1982 African Cup of Nations for the country. The three-time African Footballer of the Year owns Nania Football Club.
Tony Yeboah, on the other hand, also played for the Black Stars, representing the nation in three AFCON tournaments and scoring 29 goals. He is considered one of the most prolific goal scorers in Ghana football.
