Nobody cares about death anymore – Nigerians react as residents rush to scoop oil from another tanker explosion

A video has emerged showing several residents of Niger State rushing to scoop groundnut oil from a tanker overturned near Shafa filling station in the Esso area.

Reports indicate that the incident happened on Tuesday morning, just three days after the deadly tanker explosion on Diko-Maje Road, near Badeggi filling station in Suleja Local Government Area, which left 98 people dead.

It was reported that those who rushed to gather the oil were caught in the explosion, including those who attempted to help the victims.

The fire spread across a large area, leaving behind burned remains and widespread destruction. The explosion is said to have occurred around 9:00 am while efforts were underway to transfer PMS from the overturned tanker to another vehicle.

Despite the recent tragic incident in Suleja, another video surfaced on Tuesday, showing residents risking their lives by rushing to the scene to scoop the oil with gallons from the fallen truck.

A source said, “The oil is not fuel as people earlier claimed. It is groundnut oil. Maybe people first mistook it for fuel because the place is close to a filling station. But the tanker indeed fell.

“The tanker in Bida was not carrying petrol but groundnut oil.”
