Nigerian rapper Olamide Gbenga Adedeji better known as Olamide has amassed over 1 billion Spotify streams over his career.
Since the rapper incorporates afrobeats into his music and collaborations, he is the first African rapper to accomplish this achievement.
Olamide also made history last year by becoming the first rapper from Africa to receive a Grammy nomination.
However, Tyla’s “Water” defeated his joint single with Asake, “Amapiano,” which was nominated in the first Best African Music Performance category.
Many social media users have praised the rapper for his tenacity and craft.
