A Federal High Court in Abuja has charged Nigerian artist Speed Darlington with slander.
Recall that Deji Adeyanju had earlier reportedly chastised the police for not charging the musician and for refusing to release him on bond.
Lawyer Stanlie Eke recently disclosed that Darlington is in court on charges of defaming singer Burna Boy.
Eke underlined that defamation is illegal in Nigeria and that there is no need for law enforcement to become involved.
The legal expert said in his post that Speed Darlington, who had made fun of Burna Boy’s mother in the past, was not prosecuted because the judges were at a conference.
By next week, he added, the court will close for the year.
Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman, addressed the rumors as fans questioned whether Darlington would be behind bars till the next year.
If the judges are accessible, he said, the singer might be lucky enough to be granted bail this week.
