Real Madrid have identified Bayer Leverkusen’s Dutch-Ghanaian wing-back Jeremie Frimpong as a key target for their right-back position next summer.
This interest comes in the wake of Dani Carvajal’s ACL injury, which will sideline him for the entire 2024/25 season.
While Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has been a prominent name linked with a move to Madrid, reports suggest the club is also closely monitoring Frimpong as a viable alternative.
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg indicates that Real Madrid are keen on the Dutch international.
Frimpong enjoyed a stellar season in 2023/24, contributing to Leverkusen’s unbeaten double-winning campaign with an impressive tally of 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
His current contract includes a €40 million release clause, making him an attractive option for the Spanish giants and putting him on the radar of many European clubs.
In May, Frimpong expressed his contentment at Leverkusen but acknowledged uncertainty about his future.
“I’m so happy here. I’m concentrating on the here and now. I don’t know what will happen in the future.”
