Nothing will make me stay away from my beloved NPP – Ama Sey

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia Constituency, Ama Sey, is campaigning vigorously for Dr. Bawumia to retain power and sustain the government’s good works.

She is also rooting for Ernest Yaw Kumi, the man who defeated her in the NPP parliamentary primaries in Akwatia in 2020, who is the current NPP parliamentary candidate (PC) for Akwatia in the December 7 polls. She wants him to win the seat.

Ama Sey said that not being the NPP PC for Akwatia will not deter her from campaigning for the party.

She has therefore urged her supporters to emulate her shining example by also contributing their quota in order to help both Dr. Bawumia and Ernest Kumi win the presidential and Akwatia parliamentary polls, respectively.

Ama Sey was addressing her constituents when the NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’, who is currently campaigning in the Eastern Region, visited the Akwatia Constituency on Monday.

As a reminder, there was internal wrangling in the Akwatia Constituency NPP when Ama Sey, who was then the sitting NPP MP, lost a party parliamentary election by a slim margin to Ernest Kumi in 2020.

The deep cracks and internal strife in the NPP were not resolved in time, which adversely affected the party’s electoral fortunes, allowing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the Akwatia seat.

Brighter days looming

There is good news for the Akwatia NPP ahead of the December 7 polls, as Ama Sey’s commendable decision to openly campaign for Dr. Bawumia and Ernest Kumi will likely enhance the NPP’s chances of reclaiming the Akwatia seat.

In fact, some political analysts believe that a united and stronger NPP can easily win back the Akwatia parliamentary seat, while also boosting the party’s chances of setting a record in the presidential election.

Ama Sey’s advice

Ama Sey said the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia NPP government has performed well in transforming the country over the past eight years, and she urged party members to campaign based on the government’s positive achievements.

“Our government has performed excellently in all sectors of the economy to bring relief to the people. Therefore, we have a lot to discuss, so let’s promote our good works to win more votes for the party,” she advised.

Ama Sey specifically encouraged NPP members to focus on floating voters and even members of the NDC when campaigning, emphasizing that the NPP needs all available votes to secure both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

“The NPP has many projects that we can highlight to attract voters. We should target floating voters and even NDC members because we need every available vote to retain political power,” she stated.
