The timely intervention of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service averted a major disaster on the Kpone Bawaleshie stretch of the Dawhenya road.
According to GhanaWeb’s George Ayisi, a gas leak at a filling station raised concerns among residents, in the early hours of Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
George Ayisi reported that the management of the Evergreen Gas filling station brought in an engineer to assess the situation, swiftly addressing the issue.
Police personnel directed traffic that had built up due to the leak and also sensitised residents in close proximity to the filling station about not using open flames that could ignite and worsen the situation.
Some officers were also stationed behind the filling station.
“Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service have made us understand that they are within the neighborhood educating the members of the public on the need not to put on anything that can ignite fire.
“Police officers are also engaging commuters and educating them on the need to keep their phones away within the proximity of the filling station,” George reported.
At the time of filing this report, the incident had been controlled and traffic freely flowing.
