‘I dress to impress my husband’ – Mercy Asiedu chides Charlie Dior over outfit criticisms

Kumawood actress Mercy Asiedu has taken a swipe at fashion critic Charlie Dior for some statements he made about an outfit she wore to an event some time ago.

The actress said she is unfazed by such criticisms, emphasising that as long as her husband approves of her outfits, that is all that matters.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, the host asked if Charlie Dior’s criticisms bothered her and she responded, “I don’t listen to them. I don’t dress for anyone or to impress people. I dress to match my body and what pleases me and my husband.”

She added, “If my husband raises concern about my outfit, I would change it. Whoever criticizes my dressing, it is up to you. Maybe you don’t have anything to do; that’s why you have time to do such things. If you are a busy person, I don’t think you’d have time to chastise people’s dressing. I don’t care about one person’s criticisms.”

Background:

Earlier in March 2024, Mercy Asiedu’s outfit caught the attention of popular US-based fashion critic Charlie Dior.

At a public event that went viral online, Mercy Asiedu was captured in a tight-fitted, multi-coloured spaghetti-strapped top paired with a denim skirt and boots.

The look was complemented with a choker, bold earrings, and a belt chain, showcasing her cleavage and broad chest as she walked confidently down the hallway.

However, Charlie Dior found her appearance somewhat troubling, arguing that the outfit did not suit her ‘triangularly inverted’ body type.

He also stated that the proportions were wrong and that she had over-accessorized.
