Private legal Practitioner Martin Kpebu has disclosed that the Judge denied protesters bail because the addresses of the arrested protesters were not known.

During a phone-in interview on JoyNews, Martin Kpebu said that the main factor why these protesters were denied bail was because the Judge said there has not been proof that these protesters live in the country.

Also, other factors included; unlawful assembly, unlawful conduct, and misdemeanors

He further disclosed that during the court proceedings, the prosecution asked the protesters to remain in custody as the police are yet to conclude their investigations.

Mr Kpebu also disclosed that the prosecution asked that A11 (Felicity Nelson) be taken to the Psychiatric Hospital for treatment after the defence claimed she may be suffering from mental illness.

“The prosecution only said that the police are not done with the investigation and that these protesters should continue to be kept in custody because they are a threat to our society. This is the argument the prosecution made. They even said that A11 should be sent to the Psychiatric Hospital for treatment because the defence had said that he may be suffering from mental illness.”
