Ghanaian comic actor Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi has taken stock of the impact legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has had on his career.
Dr. Likee, as he is fondly called, is unable to quantify what he deems to be the extraordinary help Asamoah Gyan has provided him.
In an interview, Dr. Likee mentioned an instance where Asamoah Gyan gifted him a huge sum of money, which he (Dr. Likee) used to buy equipment for his skits.
Paying tribute to Gyan, Dr. Likee revealed that he bought a camera of a certain quality with funds provided by Asamoah and has therefore inscribed Gyan’s name on the camera.
He also disclosed that Gyan boosted his reach and popularity by sharing some of his content and that he will always be grateful to the football icon.
“The camera I use was bought for me by Asamoah Gyan. He gave me money in dollars, and I used it to buy a certain type of camera. I cannot thank him enough for all that he has done for me. I used his name for some skits, and he even shared those videos,” Dr. Likee said.
Dr. Likee’s revelation is yet another validation of Asamoah Gyan’s continued assistance to persons in the creative space.
In May 2023, ace gospel artiste Nacee disclosed how Asamoah Gyan financed his concert after his funding sources failed him.
He recounted that Asamoah Gyan supported a No Tribe concert with an $8,000 donation after he called on him for support.
“I mentioned Asamoah Gyan in the song because he had helped me. In 2015, we were preparing for a concert, and I was struggling to get money to pay for certain things. Asamoah Gyan gave me $8,000. I just want to get the opportunity to meet him once again and say thank you. He is a good person.
“Sally Frimpong Mann introduced me to him, and he and his brother, Baffour Gyan, were really supportive. It was a No Tribe concert, and it turned out really good,” he said.
There is also the story of how Asamoah Gyan supported Stonebwoy’s bid to undertake surgery on his leg.
“Asamoah Gyan, you came through for me around this same time 7 years ago. You decided to take my surgery cost. I’m forever grateful,” Stonebwoy wrote.
