Today is Farmers’ Day

Today, Friday, 7 December, marks Ghana’s 34th National Farmers’ Day celebration.

National Farmers’ Day is commemorated each year to honour Ghanaian farmers and fishermen. The occasion is also used to acknowledge the vital position farmers and fishermen occupy in the nation’s socio-economic development.

The day is usually marked as a public holiday.

This year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration will be held in Tamale in the Northern Region on the theme: ‘Agriculture, moving Ghana Beyond Aid’.
