Angola has stunned Ghana to get their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign off to an incredible start.

The Black Sable Antelopes have just picked up their second victory against Ghana, ending the latter’s 24-year unbeaten run at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Milson won the game for the visitors with a last-minute goal, sending the home fans into despair.

The pitch was terrible, making it difficult for either team to move the ball as easily as they would have liked.

Nonetheless, Ghana were the better side in the first half, creating half-chances but could not find the right opening to break the deadlock.

In the second half, Angola stepped up although the Black Stars still looked superior. Mohammed Kudus almost gave Ghana the lead with a right-foot shot, but his effort was cleared off the line.

Coupled with Kudus’ chance, Antoine Semenyo and Fatawu Issahaku saw their goal-bound efforts saved by goalkeeper Neblu, who had a fantastic night.

Angola stole the win during additional time after substitute Depu went past his marker before sending in a low cross which fell in the path of Milson following a poor clearance by Abdul Mumin.

The Central African side have avenged their heartbreaking 1-0 loss suffered during their last visit and moved to the top of the group, tied on points with Sudan.

Ghana will face Niger in their second fixture while Angola takes on Sudan, with both games slated for Monday, September 9, 2025.
