A Ghanaian teacher in Vietnam, popularly known online as Mr. Achabu, recently introduced his students to Ghanaian culture through a delicious culinary experience.
In a video shared by blogger Bismark Media on Facebook, Mr Achabu, while teaching a class unit on food nutrients and balanced diet, introduced the students to Ghana jollof rice, which piqued their interest.
“They were interested. So, I promised to throw a jollof party for them,” he said in the video.
True to his promise, Mr. Achabu organized the jollof party for his students.
Reflecting on his own experience with rice meals in Vietnam, he shared that he initially struggled to enjoy them.
However, his students had a different reaction to the jollof rice.
“When they tried the jollof, they absolutely loved it, they went for 2nds, some even packaged to take home. I didn’t even get some for myself,” he narrated amid laughter.
Mr. Achabu explained that his action was just his little contribution to spreading the Ghanaian culture around the world.
He expressed his joy in knowing that his students would now associate the word ‘jollof’ with Ghana wherever they go.
“This thing is not just about the food, it’s about spreading the Ghanaian culture around the world.
“Now, anywhere they go and the word ‘jollof’ is mentioned, their minds immediately come to Ghana,” he concluded.
