As the 2024 election approaches, Ghanaians are sharing their opinions on who will win the presidential election.

With the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) set to launch its 2024 General Elections campaign in Tamale on Saturday, July 27, 2024, GhanaWeb speaks to some residents on which of the two main presidential hopefuls, who are both Northerners, they would vote for on December 7.

“Sankofa, we are going back to Mahama. Mahama will beat Bawumia hands down, everybody is crying. We completed school in 2022 and we don’t have a job. With support from Mahama, we will get jobs,” one resident said.

“I am disappointed in this government, especially the licensure exams,” another resident added.

Another group shared their expectations from John Dramani Mahama should he win the 2024 elections.

“I am not expecting anything new. We are the most affected persons in the Northern region. We gave NPP the opportunity, but we made a mistake. Things are not going well at all,” a young man expressed.

“My issue has to do with fuel prices. How much is one litre now? 15 Ghana cedis. You said you have locked the cedi. Where is the IGP?” another resident questioned.

“Mahama, come back, please, to rescue the country,” a trader pleaded.

“We are waiting for Mahama to explain the 24-hour economy as there are conflicting reports,” a resident stated.

As the campaign kicks off, the sentiments of Tamale residents highlight the growing anticipation and debate over the upcoming elections and the potential leadership of Northern candidates.
