The family of the late president, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, has expressed anger at the National Democratic Congress over what they perceive as unfair treatment during the 12th anniversary wreath-laying ceremony of their relative at the Asomdwee Park.

Expressing their dissatisfaction, some members of the family alleged that they were disrespected by some party elements.

They have, therefore, threatened to vote against the NDC and instead give their votes to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the pending December polls.

In a video posted by UTV on X, one family member said “I am an avid NDC supporter and everybody in Central Market knows I campaign for Mahama. But what they did today, they didn’t regard us nor respect us. As family members, we were told to report at the ceremony at 7am to 12pm. When we arrived, they told us to leave, even when we tried to partake in the prayers, they said we shouldn’t do so. I know Mahama is innocent of today’s happening but he has been clearly affected so no member of our family will vote for the party”, she angrily said.

Another member lamented saying “I am an NDC member but what they have done today, we are going to break the 8”, he stressed.

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony and memorial service is being held to honour the memory of the late former president.

This event provides an opportunity for Ghanaians from all walks of life to pay their last respects and remember the legacy and contributions made to the country by Prof Atta Mills.
