According to authorities of the Health Facility which serves the Northern Sector of the country, several governments of the country have failed to uplift the face of the facility to be able to serve its purpose of establishment.

So far, KATH is serving approximately the whole of Northern sector of the country including Western North, some part of the Eastern Region, Northern, Upper West, Upper East Region and some part of the Volta Region.

Ashanti Region, the most populous region of the country according to the 2010 population census does not have a regional Hospital to support the KATH as it happens in the country’s capital Accra.

Meanwhile, as the population grows, improvement would be necessary to serve all these area of the country.

However the situation is pathetic at KATH as authorities have revealed that, the facility has not seen any proper facilitation from governments to equip the Teaching Hospital.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Oyerepa FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Kwame Frimpong the Public Relations Officer of KATH scolded government saying, “till date, if not with the help of the first lady, maternity and children’s ward would have been the same after more than 50 years”.

“Why is it that after 43 three years, just a single block has not been completed? The evidence is clear, evidence makes it clear”, he added affirming a question asked by the host of the programme if indeed politicians have failed the people of the region.

Mr. Frimpong indicated that, KATH could be a world class health facility should it be expanded and well facilitated.

He further cried that, “There is no a single health minister of the land who did not visit KATH for the past 15 years. All of them made promises that they were going to complete it.

According to the spokesperson, all state ministers and presidents have promised to expand the facility but failed to fulfill them.

KATH has now launched and endowment fund where people can donate to help the facility.
