Driver

Job Ref: HR/004/05/2024

Job Purpose

Provide efficient driving services and ensure proper functioning of the vehicle through regular repair, maintenance and cleanliness.

Reports to Transport Officer

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Safely transporting company staff as well as various products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner.
  •  Maintain the vehicle log indicating mileage, task accomplished, departure and arrival times and for monitoring of vehicle movement as well as costs.
  •  Ensuring that the company vehicle is always parked in areas that permit parking in order to avoid towing.
  •  Responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
  •  Perform minor repairs on vehicles when necessary as advised.
  •  Report vehicle mechanical faults to the Transport Officer.
  •  Adhere to traffic laws and safety regulations to avoid accidents or incidents.
  •  Ensure the vehicle has a valid insurance certificate
  •  Transport goods and passengers to designated locations safely and on time.
  •  Excellent time-management skills

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Valid Driving Licence
  •  3 years driving experience
  •  Clean driving record
  •  Good knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations
  •  Flexibility in working hours – the ability to work during weekends and evenings

Secretary to Managing Director

Job Ref: HR/003/05/2024

Job Purpose

Provide office administrative services including mail and messenger services to the Managing Directors office. Coordinates transport services for goods and to designated persons. Responsible for organizing of internal and external meetings on behalf of the Director ensuring all necessary requirements are made e.g. meeting venue, equipment, presentations, prepare agendas

Reports to Managing Director

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Taking charge of documents and files including classified materials to safeguard against unauthorised access
  •  Type and dispatch mail from the Managing Directors office and ensure they are filed and delivered in a timely manner
  •  Receive and open incoming mail to pass communication to the relevant individuals
  •  Handle the Managing Director’s visitors and direct them accordingly for proper coordination of activities in the MDs office.
  •  Assist in arranging and servicing board and senior staff meetings to ensure meetings are conducted as scheduled.
  •  Manage, coordinate and maintain calendar of the Managing Director including appointments, meetings and travel.
  •  Secretarial support for meetings as and when required by the Managing Director, including drafting and circulating meeting agendas, preparing minutes, communicating meeting reminders, confirming venues and arranging refreshments.
  •  Keep track of pending and upcoming appointments in order to follow up with concerned parties.
  •  Process all official correspondence received as authorised.

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Diploma in Secretarial studies / Front office management/Business Administration or related field from a recognised institution
  •  At least three years’ (3) work experience
  •  Exceptional organisational skills of self and others and ability to work without supervision
  •  Maintain 100% confidentiality, demonstrate diplomacy and tactfulness
  •  Well-developed communication skills both verbal and non-verbal to influence and persuade
  •  Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage conflicting priorities
  •  Strong Microsoft Skills for common apps

Non- Revenue Water Officer

Job Ref: HR/002/04/2024

Job Purpose

This position is to ensure reduction of water loss and ensure effective management of potential sources of leakage within the GWASCO distribution network through the management of the plant and distribution of metering and automation related activities to ensure optimum and efficient performance

Reports to Technical Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Prepare and implement system rehabilitation and leakage control plans and liaise with the Network Maintenance team and other relevant teams to ensure timely detection, repair and replacement of faulty or damaged parts
  •  Undertake inspections in liaison with the Technical team to identify leaks, illegal connections and other sources of water loss.
  •  Train Technical teams on leak detection and management.
  •  Develop and oversee implementation of NRW reduction strategies i.e metering management activities, Leak detection and monitoring activities and asset management activities.
  •  Put in place Non-Revenue Water management processes and control policies in Liaison with line-managers and relevant staff
  •  Prepare sectional and project budgets and effectively implement approved plans
  •  Liaise with Area Manager to identify and develop District Metered Areas (DMAs) with Area Managers
  •  Prepare and submit of reports to the company to enhance operational efficiency.
  •  Participate in implementation of system rehabilitation and leakage control plans and liaise with the Maintenance Engineer
  •  Develop a NRW reduction plan
  •  Develop departmental plans and maintenance plans
  •  Develop training manuals and train other staff on NRW strategies
  •  Oversee production and distribution metering and automation related activities to ensure optimum and efficient performance.
  •  Develop measures against illegal water consumption/connections

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Diploma in Civil / Mechanical/Water Engineering or related fields.
  •  Registered Graduate Member in IEK and EBK.
  •  At least Five (5) years of experience in the water sector.
  •  Proficiency in water design tools e.g EPANET/ Googe Earth is desirable.
  •  Certificate in NRW Management from KEWI is desirable.

Debt Management Officer

Job Ref:  HR/001/05/2024

Job Purpose

This role exists to effectively manage GWASCO’s debt recovery activities and ensure the timely collection of all monies due from clients to achieve revenue targets for a positive cash flow.

Reports to Commercial Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Plan and implement collection strategies and make recommendations on new techniques of collection to reduce bad debts.
  •  Establish controls to ensure compliance with corporate policies and maintenance of necessary books of accounts, meeting time and accuracy norms and preparing reconciliations as required.
  •  Prepare bad debt reports and draw these to the attention of the management with recommendations on actions to take to minimise risk.
  •  Manage debtor’s accounts accurately by issuing statements on time, reconciling issues effectively and preparing and submitting the debtor’s aging lists in a timely and accurate manner.
  •  Maintain and update appropriate records of bad debts and collections on a regular basis.
  •  Establish and manage commercial arrangements with third parties for the recovery of bad debt,
  •  Contact/ visit customers with outstanding accounts to collect outstanding monies and minimise loss.
  •  Issue demand and reminder letters to customers with overdue accounts and maintain all debtor correspondence; initiate and follow through legal proceedings in line with GWASCO’s policy.
  •  Manage, lead and develop staff to ensure efficiency in delivery of work duties and hence a greater achievement rate.
  •  Monitor and report on slow moving accounts to identify delinquent debts and take necessary action to recover the debts.

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any related field
  •  CPA-2
  •  Post graduate qualification or training in Debt Management, Credit Control or other related subject
  •  At least Five (5) years’ experience
