Following the boat mishap that took the life of famous Nigerian actor, John Paul Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, on the Anam River in Anambra State as they were making their way back from a movie shoot, one of the survivors has taken to her social media page to share a video of the team having fun before the tragic incident.

This triggered the reactions of many as they bashed them for their carelessness and thoughtlessness.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the crew member who drowned alongside Junior Pope in the boat mishap have been recovered – A Makeup artist identified as Abigail Fedrick, a Sound engineer, and one Mr. Friday.

Movie producer, Stanley Nwoke, on his Instagram page @stanley_ontop, shared a photo of the sound engineer with the caption “this is the sound guy, he’s still not found yet. They are still under the water. Is well”. He also posted a photo of the makeup artist identified as Abigail Fedrick.

However, Nollywood actor, TC Okafor, and others on the boat narrowly survived the accident.

Below are some reactions from social media users

Pepperbrownie: “Having fun inside river , how can u enter this over without a life jacket.

Afrisagacity: “The d£ath was clearly caused by their carelessness and thoughtlessness. Totally avoidable d£ath!
They entered without life-jackets, the Boat was on high speed, someone was standing in front, obviously obstructing the view of the helmsman. Nearly all of them were holding their phones and creating content, no one has an instinctual nudge to be at alert to seek safety in case of eventuality.
This d£ath shouldn’t and couldn’t have happened if the simplest of safety measures had been adopted. But of course, their youthful exuberance pushed them to their untimely end.
R.I.P to them, not only Junior Pope.
Hope this helps ”

Promoting_naija: : “RIP to the dead
But this should serve as a lesson to everyone to always use live jacket’s will on a boat or ship”

Neyoo06: If you can’t swim, always ask for life jacket when you’re in situations like this. Even if you can swim, it’s advisable that you use the jacket.
