NPP, NDC’s electoral processes breed corruption – Majority Leader

The Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has blamed the growth of corruption within political parties on the processes used by both the New Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in electing executives.

According to him, elections are not the only means available for choosing leaders hence called on the two major parties to take a look at their National Executives’ electoral processes.

“The processes adopted by the two parties are not known in any established democracies. Parties and candidates spend heavily on these elections; are we not sowing seeds of corruption with the processes,” Mr Mensah-Bonsu noted.

The majority leader made the point on Starr FM when congratulating the National Democratic Congress for a successful congress which took place on November 17, 2018, at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre, La in Accra.

Over 9,000 delegates and 4,000 observers were at the party’s congress which amended sections of the party’s constitution and elected new leaders.
