Assemblyman shot dead in Sefwi Asawra

An Assemblyman in Sefwi Asawra in the Sefwi Akontombra District has been shot dead by unknown assailants.

Kwame Abadu Isaac, believed to be a little over 60 years, according to some residence in the community, was shot dead around 2:00 GMT, Friday, September 28, 2018.

The dead body, kasapafmonline.com understands, is still in a pool of blood.

Kofi Mensah, a taxi driver in the community who broke the story on Accra-based Okay FM said the incident happened some few minutes after the entire community was plunged into total darkness following a power outage.

He said the entire community has in recent times, been experiencing spate of armed robbery cases.

Therefore, when the community was plunged into total darkness, the Assemblyman woke up from bed, took his touch light, and started patrolling the area.

Just as he got closer to his store, the unknown assailants shot him.

“He managed to move away from that place and when he was about entering his house, some of the assailants who had then laid ambush around his house shot him again and in the process, killing him instantly. Moments after the shooting incident, a motorbike sped off from the scene”, he noted.

The taxi driver, however, could not tell whether the unknown assailants were hired to kill the Assembly or armed robbers who saw Kwame Isaac as a threat to their nefarious activities in the community.

The Assemblyman, he added, always patrol the community in his bid to providing some sort of security for his people.

Police Officers from the Sefwi Akontombra District have since arrived at the crime scene to begin their investigations into the incident.
