Hello and welcome to GhanaWeb’s coverage of the 2021 European summer transfer deadline day.

Ronaldo has made a sensational return to Man United while Lukaku has also found his way back to Chelsea, a club he signed for 10 years ago but there could be some late drama as the transfer window closes this night.

European clubs expect to complete all their transfer deals for the ongoing 2021/2022 season before the window closes today at 11:59 pm.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspurs, Real Madrid, and other top clubs in Europe are all expecting to complete one or two deals before midnight today.

Chelsea are reportedly close to signing Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and Jules Koundé from Sevilla.

Wolves have also ended talks with Lille over the signing of midfielder Renato Sanches after the two clubs failed to find an agreement on a loan deal.

Follow the live updates below:

Aston Villa are ready to send Frederic Guilbert back out on loan before the transfer deadline – according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old took in a six-month stint at Strasbourg last season, and the French club are interested in bringing him back for another year.

A number of other clubs have enquired over Guilbert, who still has two years left to run on his contract at Villa.

Chelsea’s chase for Sevilla and France defender Jules Kounde has been well documented in the media during the summer transfer window. So how close it is to happening?

Sevilla’s director of football Monchi is addressing the topic in a deadline day news conference and it doesn’t seem that promising if you are a Blues fan.

“The only written, formal offer from Chelsea came last Wednesday, around 5pm,” Monchi said.

“We weren’t satisfied with the offer, and it was linked to Chelsea selling a player. It was a decent fee but it didn’t meet our criteria.

“We haven’t spoken with Chelsea since Friday night. We all decided that it was best Jules didn’t travel to Elche. It’s normal for players to be affected by news of any kind. Last year he had the interest from City and now Chelsea this year.

“Kounde’s clause never went up to 90 million euros. It has always been 80 million.”
