Hunter mistakes colleague for ‘fat grasscutter’; shoots him dead

A 26-year-old hunter has been gunned down by his colleague who mistook him for a healthy grasscutter at Femeso in Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region, MyNewsGH.com has learnt.

According to a resident Bright Bankas who spoke to MyNewsGh.com, the deceased Yaw Brenya and the suspect Kwabenya Simon had gone to the forest for game.

On arrival, they took their separate ways and agreed to converge at a particular spot after their hunting expedition.

Moments later, the suspect claimed he heard a strange sound he suspected was a grasscutter and pulled a trigger on his target only to realize that it was his friend who was on the spot easing himself.

He rushed to the rescue and took him to the Fumeso government Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect MyNewsGh.com has confirmed is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The body of the deceased has also been deposited at the morgue of the same facility pending an autopsy.
