Confusion guts NDP over the Presidential race
Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), has dismissed claims that the Presidential Candidate of the party in the December 7 elections, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, withdrawn from the Presidential race.
Alhaji Frimpong said reports that the flagbearer of NDP has bowed out of the race is false for that matter, the general public should dismiss the allegation.
On Monday morning, reports reaching Ghanaians was that, due to the demise of the former president Rawlings, Nana Konadu has decided not to contest in the election but the National Chairman said they have not received any letter to that effect.
Alhaji Frimpong said:
“We the executives in keeping with tradition have not approached this discussion with her, as we know and understand that she needs time and space to grief.
“We will like to inform the general public that our campaign is ongoing and our parliamentary candidates are out there canvassing for votes and our regional and constituency executives as well as supporters and sympathizers are still campaigning.
“It is our wish that she could gather the strengthen to lead our party. We intend not to glorify the wishes of our detractors.”
The former President, Jerry John Rawlings passed on to eternity on the 12th of December,2020 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
In view of these, a section of the public deem it fit for Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to bow out of the Presidential race but Alhaji Frimpong thinks otherwise.
