The Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has released a document to update Ghanaians on his probe of corruption allegations levelled against former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority, Adjenim Boateng Adjei.

Mr. Adjei was sacked by President Nana Akufo-Addo in October 2020 following recommendations from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ),

CHRAJ found Mr. Adjei culpable of conflict of interest in the discharge of his duties and said he was unfit to hold any public office.

In a documentary put together by journalist, Manasseh Awuni Azure, Mr. Adjei was accused of establishing a company known as Talent Discovery Limited (TDL), securing government contracts via restrictive tendering and selling those contracts to others for profit.

The President referred the corruption aspect of the case to the Office of the Special Prosecutor to probe and that of conflict of interest to CHRAJ.

The Special Prosecutor in his update said his investigation hit a snag.

According to him, he realised that the team he mandated to investigate the issue were compromised as efforts he put in place to have the investigation commenced did not materialize.
