77-year-old marijuana farmer arrested, 2-acre weed farm destroyed in Bono East

 

A 77-year-old man who’s a weed farmer at Atebubu in the Bono East Region, Opanin Kwadwo Sampene has been arrested by the Police for growing the banned plant.

His 2-acre marijuana farm at Mem a suburb of Atebubu has been destroyed by Police personnel deployed from the Atebubu Police command led by the District Commander Chief Supt. Bright Boafo.

According to the Police, they had a tipoff from a resident about the farm following which they proceeded there to destroy it and arrest the owner to help in investigations. The suspect Opanin Kwadwo Sampene in an interview confessed to smoking weed for sixty years now.

He added that because he has no support from anyone he decided to grow the plant to sell and make some money to take care of himself.
