5 students injured in violent clash between Bawku SHS and Bawku Technical Institute students

A violent clash between students of Bawku Senior High School and Bawku Technical Institute has reportedly left at least five students injured.

According to reports, the students sustained various degrees of injuries when the clash erupted during a peace ceremony between the two institutions on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, citinewsroom.com reports.

The peace ceremony, organised through a collaboration between school authorities and traditional rulers, was aimed at ending the recurring and alarming violence between the two schools and to foster unity.

Tensions flared during the ceremony when traditional leaders called for the burial of the Okra stick as part of the reconciliation process.

Some students protested the move, leading to stone-pelting among them, which resulted in several injuries.

Injured students have since been transported to Quality and Vineyard Hospitals at Bawku for immediate medical treatment.

Meanwhile, calm and order has been restored in the community, the report added.

The ceremony proceeded despite the chaotic eruptions and scenes that unfolded.
