Maxwell Boakye, a 32-year-old entrepreneur, has been elected to serve as the representative for the Western Region on the Council of State.

He secured 17 out of 28 votes cast in the first round of the voting process.

The election, held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, had the participation of important regional stakeholders and delegates.

The election featured prominent individuals such as Akwasi Nsiah-Awuah, Adjei Clement, Nana Akosua Gyamfi Aba, Nana Nkanomako, Nana Bonya Kofi, Morttey Ernest Selorm and Jacob Oppon-Acquah as candidates.

Speaking after the victory, Maxwell Boakye thanked the delegates for giving him the honour of representing the region on the Council of State.

He also stressed the importance of involving young people in governance and policy development at both the regional and national levels.

“President Mahama has shown that he is ready to work with youth in his government. Our elders have had enough time to be on the previous Council of State. The time has come for the youth to also have their chance to get a voice in government. Everyone here knows my hard work. I promise to work for the youth and region,” they said.
