3 suspected robbers killed in gun battle with police at Kpone

A police operation by the Tema Regional Command ended in a deadly shoot-out at Kpone on Sunday night, leaving three suspected armed robbers dead and others on the run.

According to a press release from the Ghana Police Service, the incident occurred after officers responded to a distress call that about 10 armed men were attempting to break into a warehouse in the Tema Industrial Area.

The police patrol team confronted the suspects, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Three suspects were shot and pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining individuals, some of whom are believed to have suffered gunshot wounds, fled the area.

The statement said recovered items from the scene include a Bruni mod foreign pistol, a double-barrelled locally manufactured pistol with two rounds of ammunition, and 11 live BB cartridges.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for identification and autopsy, while investigations are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The police commended officers of the Kpone District Command for their swift and coordinated response.
