3 Killed, 2 Injured in Karonga Accident

Karonga, 12 January, 2020: Two people have been confirmed dead, with unconfirmed reports indicating a third, with five others sustaining various degrees of injuries in an accident involving a cruiser and Minibus in the afternoon of Saturday in Karonga.

Police spokesperson for Karonga, Enock Livason confirmed of the accident saying the driver, Lenos Kambuwa was driving a motor vehicle registration MG 610 AJ Toyota land cruiser from  Karonga boma going to Chilumba direction with seven passengers onboard.

Livason said when he reached at Karonga St Marys girls secondary school junction at Mwenilondo, he wanted to overtake a minibus reg KA 8152, and in the process the minibus suddenly turned to the right hence the driver of the land cruiser lost control of the vehicle and it overturned three times killing two people in the process.

The deceased;

Palichi Munyenyembe who was working in Mzimba as District Agricultural Development Officer (DADO) and Sophie Munyenyembe hails from Mahowe village T/A Nthalire in Chitipa district.

Details of the unconfirmed third deceased had not yet been made available.
