3 in critical condition, 16 injured in Ekumfi Abontsen accident involving NDC car

Three people are in critical condition, and 16 others sustained injuries after a collision involving a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle and a Toyota Hilux at Ekumfi Abontsen on the Apam-Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region.

According to reports, the Toyota Hiace, with registration number GW 8094-24, collided with the Toyota Hilux, branded with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer and running mate, with registration GT 4704-09.

The accident occurred when both vehicles swerved to avoid each other and crashed on the shoulder of the road.

In an interview with Adom News, Apam District Fire Service officer, D.O.2 Anthony Kwesi Rhule, explained that the Hiace, carrying Senior High School graduates from Cape Coast to Accra, made a wrong maneuver, resulting in the collision with the Hilux.

The impact left multiple passengers injured, with three of them in critical condition.

All victims were rushed to Apam St. Luke’s Catholic Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

Authorities are continuing investigations into the cause of the accident.
