3 dead,15 injured in ghastly accident at winneba junction

Three people died on the spot while 15 others were seriously injured in a ghastly accident at Tailer Junction near Winneba Junction in the Central Region.

This occurred after a Toyota Vitz with registration number GW 907-24 collided with a Toyota Hiace passenger car with registration number AW 78-22.

In an interview with Ghone News, Yaw Boagyan, Winneba Municipal Fire Service Commander D.O.2 Fredrick Adu-Poku revealed that the driver of the Toyota Vitz tried to overtake a tricycle in front of him and in the process collided with the O.A. Express passenger car traveling from Accra to Obuasi.

He said both cars veered off the highway and ran into a ditch.

DO 2 Adu-Poku said one male and two females died on the spot while the remaining 15 people were sent to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.

He cautioned drivers to drive with extra care ahead of the Yuletide to reduce road accidents.

The accident happened on Sunday, October 20, 2024, in the evening at around 5:30 PM.
