2026 WCQ: Chelle to deploy Osimhen, Lookman, Simon in attack against Rwanda

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle is reportedly considering starting Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Moses Simon in attack against Rwanda in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Malian tactician is said to be focusing on an attacking strategy for the crucial encounter on Friday, March 21.

The team trained at the Stade Amahoro pitch on Wednesday to familiarize themselves with the turf ahead of the decisive qualifier against the Amavubi.

According to sources close to the team, Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, and Nantes’ Moses Simon are rumored to feature in the starting lineup against Rwanda.

Having scored just four goals in the World Cup qualifiers so far, Eric Chelle aims to change the narrative by deploying an aggressive attacking style from the referee’s first whistle.

The 47-year-old is placing his hopes on Osimhen, Lookman, and Simon as the lethal trio to transform the Super Eagles’ fortunes in front of goal.

Osimhen has delivered an outstanding 26 goals and five assists in 30 appearances for Galatasaray this season.

Lookman, who was crowned CAF Player of the Year in December, has also been impressive, tallying 18 goals and seven assists in 32 competitive appearances across all competitions.

Simon, on the other hand, has contributed six goals and eight assists for Nantes this season.
