Man stabbed over GH₵5 debt

A 30-year-old has allegedly been attacked in the neck with a knife following a misunderstanding over a GH₵5 debt.

The victim has been identified by his nickname, Mama Mpe Hia.

Reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, from Jaman South, where the incident occurred, Nana Kwame stated that the victim owed his attacker GH₵5 but had refused to pay.

The reporter said anytime the suspect asked for his money, Mama Mpe Hia made fun of him and refused to pay.

Nana Kwame added that the suspect, also known as Adiyaa, told the victim he did not like how he (Mama Mpe Hia) kept mocking him whenever he asked for his money.

However, on the day of the incident, the victim made fun of the suspect, following which he allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed him in the neck.

The victim sustained a deep cut in the neck and was rushed to the Sunyani Government Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

The incident has also shocked residents, who are wondering how the suspect attacked his friend in that manner.

The suspect, who fled, has since been arrested by the police. He is, however, not cooperating with the police in their investigation. Details also emerging indicate that the suspect may be mentally unstable.
