2024 Olympics: Argentina vs Morocco match suspended after fans storm pitch

The game between Argentina and Morocco at the 2024 Olympic Games had to be suspended after chaos broke out following a last-minute goal scored by Argentina.

Some irate fans invaded the pitch after the Argentines scored a last-gasp equalizer against Morocco in the 15th minute of added time at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The referee had to call off the match after the Moroccan fans stormed the pitch shortly after Cristian Medina’s dramatic goal, expressing their displeasure that the referee allowed the game to exceed the 15th minute of added time.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) officials at the match decided to suspend the match after the pitch invasion.

According to reports by Gaston Edul, who was at the stadium, the Moroccan fans in the stands threw bottles and firecrackers at the Argentina players on the field, which is why the Argentine players ran into the tunnel.

A brace from Soufiane Rahimi gave Morocco a 2-0 lead in the first half, but the Argentines pulled one back in the 68th minute through Giuliano Simeone before Medina added the equalizer in the 90+16th minute.
