Ghanaians are poised to go to the polls to elect new officers in a presidential and parliamentary elections. We will decide whether to go for the NDC’s proposition of a reset or the NPP’s proposition of an upgrade.”
Former president Mahama, 65, and current Vice President Bawumia, 60, are the two main contenders for the December, 7 elections. One of the two will replace President Nana Akufo-Addo, who is stepping down in January after two terms as head of the nation.
Pollsters have declared the NDC Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama to emerge victorious in the elections. The Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) , Fitch Solutions, Oxford Economics Africa among other international organizations have all declared President Mahama as the clear favourite to win.
Global InfoAnalytics, the most popular Ghanaian based research group predicted Mahama to win 52.2 percent, followed by 41.4 percent for Dr. Bawumia. The poll has a 1.9% error margin indicating that President Mahama’s victory will range between 54.1 and 50.3 percent. The NDC will again win 150 parliamentary seats with the NPP carrying home 99. One seat will go independent and 26 seat are predicted to go either way.
SACS Consult led by Prof. Justice Moses K. Aheto and Mr. Prosper Hoetu, also predicted Mahama of the NDC to lead with 55.2% (limits: 52.2 – 58.2%) of total votes cast followed by Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP with 38.4% (limits: 35.4 – 41.4%).
Apart from Prof. Smart Sarpong, who predicted a run-off, all the other polls point to the fact that John Mahama will come out as the President elect after December, 7. No credible polling organization have found Bawumia to win or cause the election to go for a run-off. It has to be said that Prof. Sarpong is accused of been an NPP communicator and a consultant to Dr. Bawumia.
President Mahama is expected to win because the management of the economy has become worse than that inherited by this government. The living conditions of Ghanaians have been severed with many Ghanaians worse than before. It is believed that John Mahama will restore confidence in the economy and improve the living standards of Ghanaians for good.
Ghanaians are the great deciders and I pray God favours us with Quran Chapter 1 Verse 6; “Guide us to the straight path, the path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favours, not of those inflicted by Thy wrath, nor of those gone astray” God bless Ghana and make her great!
