2023 general election: Igbo chieftain speaks on Amaechi’s presidential bid

A chieftain of the apex Igbo socio-cultural orgainzation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo,  and renowned academian, Professor Obasi Igwe, has applauded the presidential bid of the Minister of Transportation, and leader of the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi in the upcoming  general election in 2023.
Recall that Amaechi had declared his interest to run for the presidency in 2023 on Sunday.
He made the announcement at a Thanksgiving service organized by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers state.
The latest declaration by ex-Rivers governor comes after several pressure groups and organisations had called on to join the race.
Reacting on the backdrops of  patriotic  demands by critical stakeholders in the southeast for  Igbo presidency of the southeast extraction come 2023, which contained in a statement forwarded to  on Saturday night, Prof Igwe, however, rallied supports for Amaechi across boards in Nigeria, and also regretted at unscrupulous activities of most Igbo leaders and politcal stakeholders whom he alleged, had commissioned themselves to remain Igbo traitors, necessitated by their desperations in inordinate ambitions to hold on to power, andcontinue to work against sensitve igbo’s interests and the generality of the entire country.
According to him, “Igbo presidency is what we started with, and what we will go along with, and whichever Igbo from any part that wins his party’s nominated will happily support him. We know all the Igbo traitors and the damage they continue to inflict on Nigeria, including among the Igbo.
“The Igbo and other Nigerians are suffering because they have to divide inside families, clans, LGAs, states, ethnic nationalities, religions and, eventually, Nigeria and the Black race. Let everyone bring their data and others will bring theirs for comparison”, he challenged.
Igwe also maintained that Amaechi’s declaration to run for the number one elective political seat, has outstandingly elevated the profile of the much maligned and sidelined Igbo in the south south, and well as, heal the wounds of Igbo intra animosity that has unnecessarily lingered.
He further submitted that the ex-governor’s aspiration has provided Nigeria, an irresistable choice for a reliable Nigeria untainted by the fears and blackmails of separatism from anywhere, informing that Amaechi’s presidential ambition is on course to heal the wounds of distrust and disunity at all levels across Nigeria.
