2018 farmers’ day event hosting sparks tension @ prestea, communicators caution assembly members
The leadership of Prestea Communicators for Development (PCD) has appealed to assembly members within Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality to avoid extreme partisan politics and other attitudes that can negatively affect people in the area.
The appeal is premised on the ongoing politicization of the hosting of this year’s upcoming farmers’ day celebration at Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality. Two Assembly Members, who have identified themselves as NDC members called Hon. Awudu of Bogoso Atechem ( who lost massively in his recent contest as NDC Constituency Organiser ) and Hon. Badu Samora of Himan ( NDC radio panelist ) have over the week bared teeth at the District Agric Officer and the Assembly for not making Tarkwa Bremang as the host community instead of a community called Paterporm.
Speaking on Trnity FM, Hon. Awudu said, Paterporm is not fit to host the upcoming farmers day. Prestea Communicators for Development see such political coloration as a recipe for undue tension and is therefore calling on the Assembly Members involved to desist from such behavior.
“ We cannot have a peaceful Municipality where Assembly Members consider their political capital ahead of the collective well-being of the Municipality”, PCD indicated. PCD has therefore advised assembly members to distinguish their responsibilities from their parochial party politics.
